Digital technologies such as cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI), and the internet of things (IoT) are opening up unprecedented opportunities to accelerate growth and improve efficiency. However, digitalization is also increasing organizations’ attack surfaces as threats become sophisticated and numerous. A study from the University of Maryland, for example, reveals hackers attack each connected system every 39 seconds on average for a total of 2,244 times a day. The good news is that digital innovations seem to have given rise to a more mature outlook on cybersecurity—at least in organizations in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, according to a recent study commissioned by Palo Alto Networks.
